【摘要】:ISO19115:2003definestheschemarequiredfordescribinggeographicinformationandservices.Itprovidesinformationabouttheidentification,theextent,thequality,thespatialandtemporalschema,spatialreference,anddistributionofdigitalgeographicdata.ISO19115:2003isapplicableto:thecataloguingofdatasets,clearinghouseactivities,andthefulldescriptionofdatasets;geographicdatasets,datasetseries,andindividualgeographicfeaturesandfeatureproperties.ISO19115:2003defines:mandatoryandconditionalmetadatasections,metadataentities,andmetadataelements;theminimumsetofmetadatarequiredtoservethefullrangeofmetadataapplications(datadiscovery,determiningdatafitnessforuse,dataaccess,datatransfer,anduseofdigitaldata);optionalmetadataelements-toallowforamoreextensivestandarddescriptionofgeographicdata,ifrequired;amethodforextendingmetadatatofitspecializedneeds.ThoughISO19115:2003isapplicabletodigitaldata,itsprinciplescanbeextendedtomanyotherformsofgeographicdatasuchasmaps,charts,andtextualdocumentsaswellasnon-geographicdata.NOTECertainmandatorymetadataelementsmaynotapplytotheseotherformsofdata.
